In the case before the Valencia Criminal Court, prosecutor Alex Perrin demanded that the aggressor Damien Tarel be sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Prosecutor Perrin also demanded that Tarel, 28, be banned from holding public office and voting, and that he be banned from owning a firearm for 5 years.

In his defense, Tarel said Macron represented the downfall of the country and that he had not planned the slap in the face.

The court sentenced Tarel to 18 months in prison and 14 months of his suspended sentence.

Tarel was sent to prison to serve 4 months of his sentence.

French law provides for a maximum penalty of 3 years imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 euros for similar offenses.

After visiting the tourism and hospitality high school in the city of Tain-l’Hermitage, Macron approached the crowd that was waiting for him to shake his hand. The person approached by the president had slapped Macron, who was holding his arm with one hand, with the other.

As the assailant slapped Macron, “Montjoie Saint-Denis!” Known as the nara used in battles by the kings and knights of France in the 11th or 12th centuries. He ended his sentence by saying “Down with macronism”.
