Speaker of Parliament Yariv Levin announced that a vote of confidence in the coalition government to be formed under the leadership of Yair Lapid, leader of the Future Party and Naftali Bennett, leader of the Yamina Party, will take place on Sunday.

If the Lapid-Bennett coalition wins the confidence vote of 61 MPs in the 120-seat House, Netanyahu, who has been Israel’s prime minister since 2009, will lose his seat.

The number of deputies of the parties which have agreed to participate in the said coalition is 62.

If the new government receives a vote of confidence, it will be sworn in on the same day.

After the March 23 elections in Israel, President Reuven Rivlin appointed Prime Minister Netanyahu to form a coalition government.

Netanyahu reinstated Rivlin on May 4 because he could not find enough support to form a coalition government.

With that, Rivlin on May 5 gave the mandate to form a coalition government to Yair Lapid, the leader of Netanyahu’s rival, Yair Lapid.
