Bagram, the largest NATO air base in Afghanistan and the main headquarters of US forces, fell to the Taliban.
Now the Taliban flags fly over the base, which was once a Little America with its towers, fast food chains, cinemas and American-flag cafes.
When American soldiers fled the Bagram base in July, the prisoners held there found a way out of jail.
CNN crew TÜRK entered this base and filmed Bagram, known as “Little America” in Afghanistan.
A helicopter that the United States must have left behind was also included in the footage. CNN correspondent TÜRK said the United States rendered the helicopter unusable before leaving the area.
The CNN TÜRK team, which saw the remaining military equipment of the American soldiers, determined that the barracks where the soldiers were staying was also set on fire before they left.
THE TALIBAN PROCESS TO DOMINATE AFGHANISTAN
class = “cf”>
As part of the peace agreement reached between the United States and the Taliban in February 2020, the process of withdrawing international forces from Afghanistan began this year.
While the agreement stipulated not to attack foreign forces, it did not provide for the actions of the Taliban against the Afghan security forces.
Continuing negotiations with the Afghan government in Doha, the Taliban have simultaneously dominated many districts and provincial centers in Afghanistan with heavy attacks since June.
Besieging the capital Kabul, the Taliban took control of the city without conflict after President Ashraf Ghani left the country on August 15.
