Sheikh Tamim had a telephone conversation with Biden, according to the statement made by the UAE court in Qatar.

During the meeting, where the latest developments in the region, especially Afghanistan, were discussed, the strategic relations between the two friendly countries and ways to strengthen them were discussed.

The US president also thanked the Emir of Qatar for his country’s contribution to “the evacuation of civilians and the efforts in the peace process in Afghanistan”.

As part of the peace agreement reached between the United States and the Taliban in February 2020, the process of withdrawing international forces from Afghanistan began this year.

While the agreement stipulated that foreign forces should not be attacked, it did not stipulate the actions of the Taliban against the Afghan security forces.

Continuing negotiations with the Afghan government in Doha, the Taliban have simultaneously dominated many districts and provincial centers in Afghanistan with heavy attacks since June.
Besieging the capital Kabul, the Taliban took control of the city without conflict after President Ashraf Ghani left the country on August 15.
