Iranian Arabic-language state television “Al Alam” announced the resumption of commercial flights between Iran and Afghanistan.
It was said that the Iranian plane, which landed at Kabul airport, made the first commercial flight to that country after the Taliban took control of the country.
It was reported that the plane owned by Iranian company Mahan Airlines, which took off from the city of Mashhad, was carrying 19 passengers, including Iranian diplomats assigned to that country.
The Taliban, besieging the Afghan capital Kabul, took control of the city without conflict after President Ashraf Ghani left the country on August 15. Iranian Civil Aviation Authority spokesman Mohammad Hasan Zibahsh announced on August 16 that flights between Iran and Afghanistan were suspended.
