Former Afghan President Karzai meets Taliban

President of the Supreme Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah announced on his social media account that he had met the ex-president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, with the vice-governor of Kabul of the Taliban. Abdullah said they reaffirmed that the safety of the citizens of Kabul should be a priority during the meeting.

Chairman of the Supreme National Reconciliation Council, Dr. Abdullah announced that he had met the Taliban Deputy Governor of Kabul, Abdul Rahman Mansour, with a delegation including former President Hamid Karzai. During the meeting, Abdullah reiterated that priority should be given to protecting the safety, life, property and dignity of the citizens of Kabul, and added: “We added that it is essential that the citizens of the capital feel safe and protected in order to return to normalcy in the capital, Kabul.

Former President Hamid Karzai, who was part of the delegation, was the first president to be elected after the Taliban from December 7, 2004 until September 29, 2014.
