Botulinum toxin, one of the most dangerous toxins in the scientific world, works by paralyzing muscles. With its most common use, it helps reduce wrinkles, but it is also used in the medical treatment of many diseases and helps relieve symptoms.
INTERESTING CLAIM: BOTOX CAN STOP COVID-19
French scientists have claimed that Botox, which is widely used as a beauty treatment, can stop Covid-19 infection. Experts say that when Botox is applied, it binds to the chemical that allows muscles to contract, and the coronavirus uses the receptors that this chemical attaches to to invade cells.
NO POSITIVE CASES HAVE BEEN SEEN
The study, conducted in France, included around 193 patients, three quarters of whom were women, with an average age of 50 years. All volunteers were followed for three months after receiving Botox injections to see if they had contracted the virus. Although there were two suspected cases, none of the participants tested positive for Covid-19.
Research Team “Our results show that there is a significant difference between the number of infected individuals in the general population and the number of patients injected with Botox.” noted.
To prove their thesis, the researchers also cited a 64-year-old woman who was treated in Lozère in the south of France, claiming to have survived Covid-19, despite the fact that everyone in the village was infected.

BRITISH EXPERTS FIND CLAIM WEAK
According to information from Dailymail, French experts are pressing their claims, but there is still no concrete evidence that the treatment can stop a viral infection. While UK experts find the claim quite weak, they agree that there is no clear evidence that Botox has any promise in the fight against the coronavirus.
