Kabul ATM revolts

class = “cf”>

Hundreds of Afghans protested the non-payment of wages outside the New Kabul Bank in the capital, Kabul. Even though the banks, which were closed after the Taliban took control of the capital Kabul last Sunday, were opened three days ago, depositors cannot withdraw as much money as they want. The daily withdrawal limit for ATM account holders is limited to $ 200. This causes long queues in front of the ticket machines.

While the international community plans to encourage the Taliban to form an inclusive government with economic pressure, the people still suffer from economic hardship. According to the International Rescue Committee, 18.5 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan. It is said that when the financial resources that the Taliban can use are reduced, these millions of people will be affected by the sanctions and the influx of refugees could be more catastrophic.
