The National Seismological Center of the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP) announced that the epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 33 kilometers, was 33 kilometers southwest of the city of Mala, connected to the capital Lima.
Authorities reported that there had been no tsunami warnings after the earthquake and that no loss of life or property had occurred.
Peru, one of the countries with the highest earthquake activity in the world, is located in the Pacific Seismic Belt, also known as the “Ring of Fire”.
