According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Khamenei made assessments on the upcoming presidential elections in his speech on the anniversary of the death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the revolution in 1979.

Khamenei said that after the Constitutional Guardian Council (AKK), which examines loyalty to the regime and the political, moral and religious backgrounds of those who applied to participate in the elections, vetoed some candidates , these individuals and their families were treated unfairly and false accusations were laid.

The Iranian leader said: “It was clear that these accusations were false. As a result, unfortunately, they have spread to the public and on social media. The protection of human dignity is one of the highest human rights. I ask the responsible institution to compensate for this and make them because of false accusations. ”Used the sentences.

Khamenei did not nominate candidates whose nominations he wanted reconsidered due to unfairness.

AKK spokesman Abbas Ali Kedhudayi said in a statement after Khamenei’s speech that the Iranian leader’s words are binding.

Stating that AKK can also make mistakes, Kedhudayi said they will release their revised decisions to the public as soon as possible.

The fact that only 7 of the 592 people who applied to compete in the 13th presidential election to be held on June 18 in Iran were allowed to run for office drew reactions from different quarters.

Among the names the AKK vetoed the candidacy for were former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, one of the reformist candidates, First Vice President İshak Cihangiri and former moderate conservative Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.

The ultra-conservative head of the judiciary, İbrahim Reisi, whose candidacy was approved by AKK decision, remained largely unopposed and established himself as the favorite name in the election.
