The International Space Station (ISS) orbiting Earth hosted a first.
“To celebrate the Summer Games in Tokyo, astronauts and cosmonauts held their first space games aboard the International Space Station,” NASA said in a statement.
Team Soyuz beat Team Dragon in a friendly competition with synchronized swimming, handleless ball and more! The station’s Expedition 65 crew were divided into teams based on the spacecraft they took to the orbiting lab.
NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei and cosmonauts Oleg Novitskiy and Pyotr Dubrovnik from Russian space agency Roscosmos were part of the Soyuz team.
